London's working arts centre, built on historic foundations around one of the most beautiful courtyards in Europe. it was built in 15 47 and has evolved from a palation building for Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset to a place for exiled Queens, parliament offices to art galleries. After its original owner was executed Somerset House, in its unfinished state, became the property of the King.
Its Architeture is Neo Classical and it has a famous 3-sided courtyard.
Somerset House was repaired after damage from the war and today remains a centre for creativity and arts. It used to be the home of births deaths and registrations. In the summer the fountains play and in Winter there is ice skating.
